The Black Forest doesn't think in quarters, but in decades

Some roots grow deep before you see what comes of them.
In 1951, Hugo and Gertrud Veyhl founded the company that is known today as Veyhl GmbH with two employees in a former flak hall in Zwerenberg. From the very beginning, the founding couple had one thing in mind: to develop something new, not to manage something that already existed. The first product portfolio was correspondingly diverse — vehicle frames, bottle holders, bed frames, mufflers, sewing baskets. No fixed territory, but rather a spirit of tinkering as a guiding principle. That very spirit remains to this day: growth that keeps reshaping itself without ever abandoning its own origins. Like an antler that grows larger every year — yet always belongs to the same animal. In 1963, after the death of his father Hugo, Wolf Veyhl took over the company's management. With him began the era of the office and furniture industry — and the gradual internationalization of business relationships. Rooted regionally, connected internationally: this balance began here, long before it became an aspiration."

In 1980, Veyhl built its own innovation center. Not because it was trending, but because development expertise can't be bought — it has to grow here, in-house. In 1990, gas spring technology, used for height adjustment, set the course for product diversification in the area of ergonomic sit/stand solutions — a path that continues to this day.

What began in 1951 in a flak hall in Zwerenberg is today a company that has stayed in the Black Forest — not out of habit, but out of conviction. Because some things only grow strong where they're rooted.

1951 Founded by Hugo und Gertrud Veyhl

1960 First orders for the office and furniture industry are manufactured

1963 After the death of Hugo Veyhl, his son Wolf Veyhl takes over the business together with his mother.
Under his leadership, the company undergoes a strategic focus on the office and furniture market.

1963 Veyhl exhibits for the first time at the interzum trade fair in Cologne

1966 The first apprentice toolmaker begins training at Veyhl. To this day, over 250 young men and women have followed in his footsteps

1976 With the development of the patented "Veyhl Knot" Veyhl succeeded for the first time in assembling frames using node connections and shipping them disassembled

1977 The first wall system in the product portfolio, "Wand 77," comes onto the market

1980 Establishment of an innovation and development center

1986 Uno, Veyhl's first platform frame, launches and sells over 500,000 units

2004 Following the death of Wolf Veyhl (2000), Veyhl becomes part of the Nordwest Industrie Group (NWI)

2006 The Lean and Kaizen process is introduced at Veyhl: to this day, continuous improvement remains a core part of Veyhl's working philosophy.

2005 Gerhard Wahl becomes Managing Director of Veyhl GmbH. The joint venture OMT-Veyhl is founded in the USA.
In 2013, this is followed by the company holding OMT-Veyhl Weloze in Brazil, and in 2016 by the establishment of the sales location OMT-Veyhl Asia in Hong Kong.

2007 Establishment of a new process line for the agricultural sector as an additional business segment

2008 Launch of Elevo, a new generation of electrically adjustable sit-stand desks

2012 Plant expansion by approximately 3,000 sqm

2016 Recognition as a certified training company by the IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce)

2020 Jochen Gerken becomes co-Managing Director alongside Gerhard Wahl.
Since 2024, he is serving as sole Managing Director.
